Experts
A permanent core is responsible for methodology, quality, data and coordination. The substantive work scales through project teams and the expert network around the lab.
01
Core team
Each role in the core is responsible for one of the four core directions or for the legal review, and for the steps of the analytical cycle named on its card.
-
Founder
Leads advanced research: scenarios, trends and the annual forecast. Answers for the cycle as a whole: takes the request, approves the task passport and appoints the owner of the result. Builds the lab's tools, CATK and TXINT.Core directionAdvanced research
-
General Counsel
Answers for the legal side of both gates of the cycle. Without legal and ethical clearance the work does not start, and a conclusion about a specific organisation or person is not released without the legal check. -
Head of Projects
Runs the lab's projects: prepares the task passport and the collection plan and keeps track of the deadlines. Answers for the evidence base: lawful collection, checking and structuring of data. Grades every source and every message on the lab's scale and answers for information security.Core directionData and open sources
-
Chief Analyst
Answers for the analysis, the conclusions and the analytical standards. Sees that at least two hypotheses are tested against the data, and keeps the forecast register.Core directionAnalysis and methodology
-
Head of the Expert Network and Communications
Brings in outside experts and the independent reviewer. Turns the analysis into material for executives, partners and the public, and releases it after the editorial check.Core directionExpert network and communications
02
Expert network
The Galatine expert network is being built as an open community of experts and partners around the lab. It connects knowledge, industries, regions and research programmes.
| Category | Who belongs | Form of participation |
|---|---|---|
| Experts | Researchers, practitioners, former executives, industry specialists | Review, interviews, working groups, research |
| Partner organisations | Universities, research centres, associations, companies, non-profits | Joint projects, data, events, exchange of knowledge |
| Thematic and regional nodes | Standing groups of experts on one industry or territory | Watching trends, collecting open signals, thematic sessions |
| Young researchers | Students, postgraduates, young analysts | Practical training and projects under mentors |
03
Statuses
Statuses make the network transparent: access to information and the role in project teams depend on them.
- CandidateA recommendation or an application, and a first check of the profile. Open events and formats.
- Verified expertThe check is passed, the participant's contract and the code of ethics are signed. Invitations to project teams, interviews and reviews.
- Active expertA verified expert with recent work rated for its contribution. Leading a sub-task within a project team.
- Lead expertSustained active participation and positive ratings. Coordinating a node and acting as a team's methodologist.
04
Project teams
A temporary team is assembled for each question. It has a task passport, a deadline, an owner of the result and a criterion of completion, and it closes with a debrief once the result is released.
- Owner of the resultA member of the core. Answers for the result and the deadline and signs the release after review.
- Sub-task leadsCollect ideas and materials on their part of the task and answer for the intermediate result.
- MethodologistOversees the analytical standards, the hypotheses, the evidence and the criteria of completion.
- Team coordinatorFinds the knowledge through the network, brings in outside participants and answers for the access regime.
- FacilitatorKeeps the quality of the exchange and prevents one position from dominating.
- Knowledge keeperRecords versions, sources, decisions, assumptions and the outcomes of forecasts.
Leadership in a team follows function and sub-task, with no standing hierarchy. An independent reviewer stands outside the team, and the owner of the result never reviews their own work.
05
Rules of participation
- Every participant signs the code of ethics and accepts the confidentiality regime.
- A conflict of interest is declared before each assignment.
- An outside expert sees only what the task needs and what their status allows, in the lab's working environment.
- Speaking on behalf of the lab requires its agreement.
- The network's forms of work are open: consultation and review, joint open research, public discussion, notes on an open request with the client disclosed, and the exchange of lawfully provided data.
